How to Start When You Don't Know Where to Start

Two representations of the Fool card from tarot, which symbolizes a leap of faith, new cycle, or a new journey.

After years of a spiritual awakening, I sometimes feel that have become an expert at moving forward. But then I’m reminded that awakening is a process and no matter what I think I have become, I am still evolving which means new starting new cycles.

As we evolve, cycles open and close, and open again. We often need to start again and again. But sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to start, or even when to start.

Sometimes we can’t see the path forward, or our soul and spirit team are waiting for us to choose a way forward. For me, the starting point is most often provided through the guidance of my soul. But it hasn’t always been so clear or easy.

There are many ways to start. Each of us will have different starting points, different steps forward, and unique ways of moving our path forward.

There is no wrong way to start, but some ways will resonate more than others. Each situation may call for a different way to start.

Whether finding a way to start now, or a process for starting new cycles, I hope that there is some wisdom here for you.

Sometimes the starting point is allowing our intuition to guide us forward. Our intuition knows the path forward. It can be helpful to get quiet and listen for guidance. It helps to ask for guidance, using specific language that asks for help getting started. We can also ask for the next right step. Connect and get quiet to listen for the guidance of our intuition. Be open to signs that say how and when to start.

Sometimes starting requires an act of faith and surrendering to what comes. When guidance isn’t presented, surrendering to our spirit team and our intuition, can help. That can look like connecting with our team and surrendering to their wisdom. It can be freeing to give up the thinking about it and surrendering to the flow of what wants to happen for us. It takes patience and faith, but surrendering can be just what we need to start a new journey or cycle.

Sometimes the next right step is nothing. (I wrote about that recently here.) Sometimes starting looks like doing nothing. When our intuition provides no guidance, and when our spirit team doesn’t have a message, that may mean its not yet time to start. When the answers have yet to appear to us, it is likely that Divine timing is still lining up for us. Or maybe we just need a little rest and integration before we start a new cycle.

No matter how we choose to move forward, starting points require an act of faith. We are daring to imagine a path that doesn’t yet exist for us. So, know that no matter how you start, you are brave. It is brave to imagine a new direction. It is even more brave to start anew.

The image in this post is mine. The Fool card is the start of the hero’s journey as represented by tarot. The card on the left is from the Tarot of the Cosmic Seed by Lalania Simone. It is a beautiful deck and recommend it whole heartedly. The card on the right is from a pocket-sized Rider-Waite-Smith deck.  And, if the image looks familiar, I used it in another post in January 2023.

I’m grateful you’re here. I love you.

Be well, beautiful soul,

Nikki
